Got bored, made some security-focused chat backgrounds
Warning: This post is over a year old. The information may be out of date.
I use Signal as my message app of choice. From the WhatsApp days of past, I kinda liked the weird-and-quirky icon backgrounds they had. No idea what’s on them, but it was visually pleasing.
I got bored, so I made some backgrounds, originally with 4 colour ways and 4 opacities of the icons. All in 2160x3840 resolution.
I used icons from Reshot with the free license.
The colourways are on a gradient from top-bottom:
- blue-pink
- yellow-green
- orange-red
- white-grey
- rainbow! (Thanks to TLF_01 on Twitter for that suggestion!)
- teal(ish)? (Thanks to TLF_01 on Twitter for that suggestion!)
The opacities are as follows:
- 10%
- 15%
- 20%
- 100% (anyone who uses this is a weirdo, but I love ya)
Anyway, here’s the backgrounds, click through to the full size:
0.10 | 0.15 | 0.20 | 1.00 |

Or, have a .zip file with them all: Zip zip
If anyone wants different opacities or colourways (sorry, no new icons as I don’t have time to arrange them all), hit me up on Twitter. I’ll sort you out if I can!
